This collection of four wines is a tribute to the grapes once produced here at Zaca Mesa. We have selected several iconic Santa Barbara County vineyards that produce fruit of the highest distinction and quality. These vineyards represent the pinnacle of each varietal, just as Zaca Mesa Vineyards represents the pinnacle of California Rhône-style varietals.Vogelzang Vineyard, TTT and Happy Canyon Vineyard are located within the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA, which is found at the eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley. A warm climate combined with gravelly loam soils make these vineyard sites ideal for producing a classic, elegantly structured style of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon expresses brambly aromatics reminiscent of blackberries and mulberries while a whiff of cypress tree resin conjures images of meandering through a forest. Dynamic textures weave throughout the full range of the palate, the tannin showing a snappiness in its youth that promises to relax into aged beauty over the coming years. Earthy notes of freshly ground coffee and cinnamon-spiced Mexican chocolate expand into the late finish.
